VesselQUAD

By Propulsion Analytics

Complete Vessel and Engine performance analysis and maintenance decision support application for ensuring high performance and reduced emissions.

Why choose this solution

IMPROVE PERFORMANCE-RELATED DECISIONS

Detailed analysis using a combination of thermodynamic models and machine learning to identify the source of any vessel underperformance (hull/propeller fouling, weather, engine) and enable data-driven decision making.

IMPROVE DATA QUALITY

Validate key measurements for performance assessment such as shaft power and fuel consumption using a thermodynamic digital twin of the main engine.

ENSURE ENVIRONMENTAL COMPLIANCE

Use the performance analysis to understand current vessel performance and manage future performance and emissions/CII.

Features

DETERMINE HULL AND PROPELLER FOULING

VesselQUAD combines thermodynamic analysis with machine learning on vessel data to identify the cause of vessel underperformance and aid in vessel maintenance decisions. The system automatically cleans data and removes influences of weather, draft and trim to accurately quantify hull and propeller fouling. A patented methodology is used to assess propeller fouling independently, to aid in cleaning decisions.

UP-TO-DATE VESSEL PROFILE

The vessel data is used to create an accurate model of the up-to-date vessel performance, including any underperformance due to evolving fouling or engine faults. This vessel profile is used to output up-to-date speed/fuel consumption/emissions tables for charterparty negotiations. When combined with weather forecasts, the vessel profile can be used for optimal vessel routing.

ENGINE PERFORMANCE AND SENSOR VALIDATION

VesselQUAD uses a thermodynamic digital twin of the engine to continuously evaluate engine performance, identify engine faults and validate critical sensors. The digital twin can identify small deviations in engine performance in order to localise faults and reduce troubleshooting time. The system also acts as a virtual sensor, to output continuous calculated values for shaft torque, power and engine fuel consumption, which are critical for the performance assessment of the vessel.

CII ANALYSIS AND PROJECTIONS

CII analysis within VesselQUAD includes two parts: understanding the present and optimizing for the future. The former looks at past data to quantify the individual influence of vessel operation (speed, idle time, ballast, laden trips), weather and hull/propeller fouling on the CII grade attained. The prediction tool uses the current vessel profile to enable predictions of CII development depending on the vessel trading patterns, utilisation, speed and the timing of cleaning events.
